Wings announce Wichita Luck as new entry for Major Arena Soccer League W

TAMPA, Florida --  Major Arena Soccer League Women has announces the expansion of the Wichita Lady Luck (Luck), Wichita's first women's indoor soccer team to base it's operations oBrian Ackleyut of an arena. 

This Luck's founding follows the formal unification with the Premier Arena Soccer League. jor Arena Soccer League Women.

It marks the first time that women’s teams will play under the MASL brand creating an important alignment with the increase in the popularity of the women’s game globally.

With the unification, the Major Arena Soccer League brand will feature approximately 80 teams from coast-to-coast and across two countries in its now four leagues. All leagues will play under the rules of the MASL to create greater cohesion across the brand, which in turn presented an opportunity for current owners to consider expanding their reach into Women's soccer. 

“Providing a path forward for so many talented players has always been at the forefront of the indoor soccer pyramid,” noted MASL Commissioner Keith Tozer. “The addition of a women's league, MASLW, also gives us a look at what the future of indoor soccer can look like in the coming years."

The Luck, a sister organization of the Wichita Wings men's team, feel that sharing in resources to lease the Park City Arena, formerly Hartman Arena, will help to sustain an entertaining and flourishing Women's arena soccer platform in Wichita.    

"We've wanted to bring more family entertainment options to the community for years, doing it while providing a high level platform for these amazing Women's players has helped us realize a larger mission," says Wings Managing Partner Blake Shumaker. 

"Lady Luck players will not only perform on the field but also in the community through youth mentorship. We want the biggest win to be for the young female players ages 4-12 who can take inspiration from our players just like we've seen over the last 45 years with the Wichita Wings. We want them at the game and on the field learning."

Learning however is a common theme, it's possible that the Inaugural Luck roster could be among the youngest teams in the league, but Shumaker says that's partially by design.

"We understand there isn't a large enough Women's player pool in Wichita with indoor soccer experience. That's absolutely fine because younger players often mean a bright future, we will have a mix of proven outdoor and futsal talent in the team that have 10 years or more left in the tank. That said, we will certainly compete and I won't be surprised if they learn the nuances of the indoor game very quickly."
