Three stars Texas Lone Stars invited to play for Team USA at OKC World Soccerfest Oct. 18

OKLAHOMA CITY, Oklahoma -- The newest member of Major Arena Soccer League Women is making a big splash in the sport before their first season of play even begins.

Texas Lone Star S.C. is proud to announce that three of their players, Jordan Lande, Emily Juarez, and Norma Lopez, have been selected to represent Team USA in the highly anticipated USA vs. Mexico mini football match, taking place this Saturday, in Oklahoma.

The game is part of a three-games-in-one World Soccerfest at the brand new 4,500-seat OG&E Coliseum in downtown Oklahoma City, new home of the MASL 2 and MASL 3 OKC Certified Lions. The women's matchup will start at 4 p.m., followed by a 6 p.m. start for the Legends game between Chivas and Club America. The men's game between the national sides between Team USA and Mexico -- with both rosters loaded with stars from the MASL -- will kick off at 8 p.m.

Pia Namdar, principal owner of Texas Lone Star S.C., shared her excitement regarding this opportunity for the girls.

"We are tremendously proud of our girls and know they’ll give it their all representing team USA. As a Latina, I have the pleasure of watching both the U.S. and Mexico play, but I’ll be cheering on our girls all the way," she noted.

She noted that the selection of these three players underscores the strength of the Texas Lone Star S.C. talent pipeline and the growing women’s soccer culture not only in North Texas, but in the state of Texas. The club is preparing for its inaugural season, competing in the Major Arena Soccer League Women (MASLW), and this national recognition marks a major milestone in the club's early journey.

Texas Lone Star S.C. Head Coach Ricky Mejia remarked on the significance of the call-up, as well.

“It’s always special when you get called up to represent your country. This will be a great test for them on a very competitive stage," he noted.

Team USA Head Coach Craig Rhodis added the importance of continuing to grow the talent and player pool for the U.S. women’s program, stating, “Our women’s program is fantastic, we’ve won back-to-back WMF World Cups in Ukraine (2021) and Croatia (2024). But as we saw in the last World Cup, the rest of the world is catching up. It’s vital that we continue developing our current player pool while also identifying new talent. Events like this in Oklahoma City and the growth of quality programs in the MASLW is critical to that effort.”

Texas Lone Star S.C. players also shared their excitement for the opportunity. The selected players expressed their gratitude and excitement:

>> Jordan Lande: “I want to thank God for opening this door and guiding my journey. I’m also deeply grateful to the club’s leadership for making this opportunity possible.”

>> Emily Juarez: “I’m honored and thankful for this opportunity. Representing Team USA is a dream, and I appreciate Texas Lone Star S.C. for advocating on my behalf.”

>>Norma Lopez: “Playing for Team USA is something I’ll never forget. I’m excited to compete at the highest level and proudly represent our club program.”

The USA vs. Mexico match is expected to draw significant attention as two of North America's top soccer nations face off, with Texas’ talent playing a strong role on the international stage.
