MASL 2 Iowa Raptors will debut team in Major Arena Soccer League Women this season

TAMPA, Florida – Joining the lead of several additional Major Arena Soccer League 2 teams, the Iowa Raptors will make their debut in Major Arena Soccer League Women this year.

The Raptors women's team will play mostly doubleheaders with their MASL 2 team, with games set for the 5,000 seat Alliant Energy Powerhouse in Cedar Rapids.

The organization has a history in the women's outdoor game, having fielded a team in the Women's Pro Soccer League for two seasons. Additionally, they played in the PASL women's league as well. They join MASL 2 teams in Omaha, Des Moines and Wichita as clubs that have teams in both MASL 2 and MASL W for the 2025-26 season.

In just its second season, MASL W features 24 teams across North America. For just the second time in the history of MASL pro indoor soccer pyramid, a league will have teams in Canada, the United States and Mexico. No less than 18 teams that participated in the inaugural 2024-25 season are back this winter, along with new markets including Kansas City, Monterrey, Mexico and Kitchener, Ontario.

“The league had a very impressive debut, so having the Raptors join for the 2025-26 is an exciting moment for our club,” said Raptors Managing Partner Bobby Hurwitz. “The commitment level from the players and teams, which led to an overall quality of play that was exciting for a first-year league, was attractive to us and will be to our fans in Cedar Rapids as well.. With the ever-growing popularity of women's sports, we know our fans will be energized by this next big step from the Raptors organization.”

Commissioner Chris Economides said the Raptors will bring a competitive team to MASL W right away.

“The Raptors were in the MASL 2 finals not that long ago, so they know what it takes to put a championship team together,” Economides noted. “And with stiff competition from all three teams in their division, it could be a real race to the wire to see who takes the Midwest Division crown. Fans in Cedar Rapids, Des Moines, Omaha and Kansas City are in for intense and exciting action every weekend during the regular season.”

The division schedule, in fact, will start with the Raptors, who will kick off against the expansion Kansas City Astras on Saturday, Dec. 6, part of a doubleheader in Cedar Rapids that day as the MASL 2 Raptors will also host the second-year Minnesota Blizzard. MASL W teams play a 10-game regular season schedule that runs from December to March, with a national playoffs to conclude the year.
