Mallorie Lund, Silvia Castillo, lead teams to perfect start, earn Player of Week honors
TAMPA, Florida -- Two teams off to perfect 4-0 starts -- the Iowa Demon Hawks and ICT Aztecs -- have players who have earned Week Eight Player of the Week honors in Major Arena Soccer League Women.
Mallorie Lund, goalkeeper for the ICT Aztecs helped her club stay undefeated with an 11-4 win over the Wichita Aero last weekend. The Aztecs have lost just one regular season game over the past two years.
Lund is an assistant soccer coach at Kansas Wesleyan College. She played collegiately at Southwestern College in Winfield, Kansas, where she was a two-time first-team all-conference all star.
Castillo is one of several players from the defending champion Chihuahua Savage who are now with the Demon Hawks. She led the league in scoring last year with 27 goals. She had five goals and two assists in helping Iowa to a pair of road wins in Omaha. She is currently second in the league in both points and goals.
