Iowa Demon Hawks complete perfect season, win second-ever MASL W championship

DETROIT, Michigan -- The Iowa Demon Hawks completed a perfect 13-0 season to win the 2025-26 Major Arena Soccer League championship, the organization's second in the last three years.

The Demon Hawks raced to a 6-1 intermission lead - including a goal with four seconds to play in the first quarter and two more in the final two and one-half minutes of the second quarter -- to defeat Dallas RPFC, who never got closer than three goals the rest of the way.

The Demon Hawks, who have consistently been one of the most successful on-field teams in Major Arena Soccer League 2 for the past four years -- including opening their new home field in Des Moines earlier this year -- won the 2023-24 MASL 2 title.

Sunday, the Demon Hawks used plenty of championship pedigree to complete their undefeated season. All four of their players that scored in the win over RPFC played for the Chihuahua Savage in last year's championship game, won by the Savage 16-3.

That group was led by Martha Saenz with three goals and Andrea Gallegos, a second team ALL MASL W selection, with a pair. Silvia Castillo, the league MVP each of the last two years, along with Nely  Ramos  each scored once.

Dallas was led by First Team All MASL W pick Taylor Tufts who had two goals and Ari Arboleda who scored once. First Team All MASL W goalkeeper Alondra Tinajero got the win.

Last season, RPFC advanced to the semifinals before bowing to Chihuahua, 6-3.

In completing the perfect season, Iowa was first in goals scored this year, and the closest margin of defeat all year was two goals in their 7-5 win Saturday in the semifinals against host Detroit. During the regular season, their smallest margin of victory was four, a 6-2 win over the KS Astras.
