Indy Nights will warm up chilly winter evenings with debut for 2026-27 season

TAMPA, Florida– Professional women's indoor soccer will debut in Indianapolis at the start of the 2026-27 season as Major Arena Soccer League Women expands its already strong Midwest footprint.

The Indy Nights will debut late this fall, and will play their home games at SportsZone Indy, where team tryouts are scheduled on upcoming weekends including July 25, August 1 and August 8 starting  9 a.m. each Saturday, with more information and a registration link available at www.indynights.org.

The Midwest is one of MASL W's strongest areas including the defending league champion Iowa Demon Hawks, and playoff teams last year that include Detroit City FC, FC Berlin (Kitchener, Ontario), the Louisville Triumph and Cincinnati Sirens, who have won five previous women's indoor championships.

A final divisional lineup will be announced later this summer, but the Nights will no doubt be matched up regularly with some of the top teams in the league – now in its third season under the MASL umbrella -- that includes clubs in Canada, the United States and Mexico. The Indy ownership is headed by a woman, and features individuals from Kansas City and Indianapolis, including a former pro indoor soccer player. 

“It's a brand new organization. They're trying to keep it simple, but women's pro indoor soccer belongs in Indianapolis,” said MASL W Commissioner Chris Economides.  “We're excited about having a MASL presence there under the guidance of an impressive group of people interested in making it happen.  It's a great market and definitely needed. It's a hotbed for soccer and they're doing it for the right reasons.”

The commissioner also indicated that if the Nights have a successful season in the women's side, it would likely lead to adding a men's team there as soon as next season.

“Having an ownership group that understands and appreciates and has for many years been involved in indoor soccer is a huge positive for the MASL,” added MASL W Deputy Commissioner Brian Cushing, himself a veteran of six years as a player with the Wichita Wings. “They are enthusiastic and dedicated to creating a premier pro women's indoor team in Indianapolis. With the Midwest a hotbed for the sport, the Nights will no doubt jump right in and be a competitive and entertaining club.”

Each Major Arena Soccer League Women club plays a 10-game regular season schedule starting in late fall through early spring 2027, with a national playoffs to follow to determine a league champion.
