Aztecs, Lady Luck battle for final spot in inaugural Championship Weekend
TAMPA, Florida -- It's only appropriate that the city that hosted the first ever Major Arena Soccer League Women game will also be the one to host games this weekend that will decide the final of six spots for Championship Weekend set March 28 to 30 in Des Moines, Iowa.
Both the Wichita Lady Luck and ICT Aztecs are alive for that final spot, and the two teams will tangle Friday night at the Sports Zone in Wichita. If the Lady Luck win, they will secure the final playoff spot. If ICT should win in regulation time, they would have to do the same the next night at home against the Oklahoma Oblivion. Should they do that, they would be the final team to sneak into the postseason.
Otherwise -- there are five total games on the Week 18 slate, the last weekend of regular season play -- the five additional playoff teams have been established, including: Detroit City FC, Dallas RPFC, Chihuahua Savage, Cincinnati Sirens and the host Iowa Demon Hawks. Championship Weekend kicks off with the first quarterfinal game at 4:30 p.m. CDT. Tickets are available at www.iowdemonhawks.com.
