Great Lakes South battles start November 28 as Columbus Eagles Visit Louisville Triumph

TAMPA, Florida -- Two teams that made up the most competitive division in the first year of Major Arena Soccer League Women will help kick off year two in the Great Lakes South as the Columbus Eagles travel to Kentucky to take on the Louisville Triumph on Saturday, December 6.

All four teams in the GL South for 2025-26 finished with above .500 records during the regular season last year, including the eventual division champion Cincinnati Sirens and Akron, Ohio, based Susserfuss Ballveiren, along with the Triumph.

This year figures to be no different, and in fact, the division will see even more competitive action with a handful of cross-over games against teams from the Great Lakes North which allows teams to feature geographic rivals and more intense action.

Included in the cross-over games is Detroit City FC -- which was a perfect 10-0 last season and advanced all the way to the league championship game. Both Columbus and Louisville will match up against them during the regular season.

"Thanks to the cooperation of all the teams in the Great Lakes North and South, we were able to create some pretty spectacular regular season matchups for fans in those markets to enjoy," MASL W Commissioner Chris Economides said. "There are some strong teams in that region, and putting them together just made great sense. There will be some intense games between some of the top teams in MASL W."

Other home openers for Great Lakes South teams include a Nov. 30 date for the Cincinnati Sirens who will host the Triumph, the Susserfuss home opener Dec. 13 against Columbus, and the Eagles home opener Dec. 27 against Louisville. Each team will play a 10-game regular season schedule with national playoffs at the conclusion of the year.
