Detroit City is selected as hosts for 2025-26 MASL Women playoffs March 20-22

DETROIT — Today, Major Arena Soccer League Women has announced that Detroit City Football Club has been awarded hosting rights for the 2026 MASL W League Championship Weekend.

Matches will occur at the Detroit City Fieldhouse on March 20-22, where eight teams will face off to be crowned MASL W League Champions.

“I can't think of a more fantastic place to hold our playoffs. Detroit City fans are passionate and knowledgeable and fill the stands for all of their games,” Commissioner Chris Economides said. “On top of that, they put on a great show on and off the field. It's one of the most fan-friendly and entertaining venues at any level of the entire Major Arena Soccer League pyramid, first class all the way. Their commitment to the full experience is second to none, and I know all our teams will love playing there.”

Le Rouge will be guaranteed a playoff spot as the host team. Winners of each of the five divisions will automatically qualify, as well as the top three second-place teams based on regular-season record and tiebreakers. Detroit still advances regardless of where they finish the regular season, and, if needed, only the top two second-place teams would then advance to complete the bracket.

On Friday, March 20, there will be four matches -- spread over two brackets --  at 10 a.m., 1 p.m., 4 p.m. and 7 p.m as as the No. 1 seed will take on . On Saturday, March 21, two matches will be held at 3:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. There will also be a watch party in the City Clubhouse for the DCFC men's USL Championship team, which kicks off at 7 p.m.

The MASL W final will take place on Sunday, March 22, at 2 p.m. The games will be streamed live, with information on the playoff broadcasts released closer to the March 20-22 weekend.

On March 20, the No. 1 seed will play the No. 8 seed on one side of the bracket, which also includes the tournament's No. 4 and 5 seeds. The winners of those two games will play in the semifinals. The second place seed will meet the No. 7 seed, and the No. 3 seed will take on the No. 6 seed in the other quarterfinals bracket. The two winners of those games will also play each other on Saturday. League officials will retain the right to reseed the three wild-card entries to try and insure that no teams in the same division match up against other in the quarterfinals. There will be no reseeding after the quarterfinals.

Last season, the Iowa Demon Hawks hosted the first MASL W championship, where DCFC was the No. 1 seed and received a bye to the semifinals. After defeating the hosts 11-3 in the semifinal, Detroit City played in the inaugural MASL W Championship Game, where their perfect season ended with a 16-3 loss to Chihuahua Savage.

"We are honored and excited to be hosting the MASL W playoffs this season. It's been an absolute pleasure partnering with league leadership and our fellow clubs for the past few years, and we are committed to putting on a show that reflects well on the league, its professional standards, and all the talented players and coaches throughout. Come March 20, we hope all eyes will be on Detroit and the eight fantastic teams that book their ticket to the postseason," said Chief of Soccer Development David Dwiahy.

The Detroit City Fieldhouse is Detroit's 75,000-square-foot indoor facility, located at 3401 E. Lafayette St. The building is home to men's, women's, coed and youth soccer leagues. Opened in 1978, the building has served as an indoor tennis and racquet club, a practice facility for the Detroit Red Wings, home of the Wayne State University men's and women's hockey teams and, in 2018, became the indoor home to Detroit City FC.
