Championship weekend in Detroit starts with four quarterfinal matchups on Friday
TAMPA, Florida -- The 2025-26 Major Arena Soccer League Women champions will be crowned in Detroit this weekend as eight teams vie for the second ever league title.
Games start Friday at 10 a.m. for the eight team field. Saturday's quarterfinals will be at 3:30 and 7 p.m. EDT with Sunday's championship game set to kickoff at 2 p.m. EDT Sunday. All games are being played at the Detroit City Field House, and all games will be broadcast free of charge to fans. Final streaming information will be posted on team and league social media and websites later this week.
Friday's schedule is as follows:
>> 10 a.m. Iowa Demon Hawks (1 seed) vs. Texas Lone Star (8)
>> 1 p.m. ICT Aztecs (2) vs. Cincinnati Sirens (7)
>> 4 p.m. Dallas RPFC (3) vs. FC Berlin (6)
>> 7 p.m. Louisville Triumph (4) vs. Detroit City FC (5)
Saturday's first semifinals will feature the winner of the Demon Hawks vs. Lone Star game against the victor between Louisville and Detroit. The second semi will matchup the winner of the ICT v. Cincinnati showdown against the winner from Dallas RPFC and FC Berlin.
"It's an outstanding field, and we have outstanding hosts, so it promises to be a great weekend of action both on and off the field," MASL W Commissioner Chris Economides said. Just about every team in it has a chance to take home their first ever championship trophy. Every team has been severely tested at one point or another during the regular season, so to say they have all earned their way to Detroit is a pretty big understatement. Good luck to everyone."
The final playoff spot was secured by Texas Lone Star when the Omaha Queens fell on the road to the Iowa Demon Hawks. Omaha needed to win that game, and a planned Sunday game in Des Moines as well, to snag the last post season berth. Sunday's game was called a forfeit win for Iowa since it did not affect the playoff seedings, and with a severe winter storm bearing down on the Midwest, the decision to not play was mutually agreed upon by both teams.
