$1Million TST Runner-up Simply Football FC joining MASL W for 2026-27 season

TAMPA, Florida – The newest club to enter Major Arena Soccer League Women action for the 2026-27 season may have a short history, but it's already a mighty impressive one.

Simply Futbol FC – founded in just March, 2025, as a club that features solely women's teams – will become the third MASL W squad in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, joining RPFC and Texas Lone Star for the start of the 2026-27 season later this fall.

They burst on to the national soccer scene this summer, advancing all the way to the women's finals of the $1 million winner-take-all TST seven-on-seven event in Cary, North Carolina. Ironically, they lost in the million dollar showdown to the Iowa Demon Hawks, 2-1, whose women's team is also the current reigning MASL W champions. The Simply Futbol  TST team was led by MASL legends RJ Luevano and Billy Odwyer alongside tactical genius Connor Rackley.

In maybe the biggest upset in the tournament's short history, Simply Futbol FC defeated the U.S Women's National team in the 2026 semifinals, 2-1, knocking out the TST's defending women's champions to earn their showdown with the Demon Hawks. SFFC led 1-0 at the end of regulation time, but fell 2-1 in target score time to Iowa.

Team owner Mo Garcia, who will be the MASL W coach as well, said the team's name and uncomplicated logo reflect the philosophy of the club. They also field outdoor teams in the UPSL and WPSL.

“That's kind of the point, a simple style of soccer, nothing flashy. The game itself is supposed to be a simple game. Sometimes players try to make it difficult so we have a style of play that's very simple, very consistent, but very entertaining,” Garcia said. “It's kind of coming full circle now, having an outdoor team, a TST team and now an indoor team,”

Garcia said one of the keys is keeping many of the same players with the club twelve months a year.

“It's just culture. Overall, the girls have bought into the culture and the system, the purpose of why we're doing this, and that brings more talent and opportunity. And the majority of our girls are not college players so we don't have the fluctuation of losing players where they leave and you don't see them again for almost a whole year,” he noted. “You get the continuity of the same group sticking around year round while still welcoming new faces and keeping the door open for opportunity for all women in DFW who are seeking it.”

And although the club features many talented players, as their run in the TST would indicate, they don't look at that way.

“It's the culture of a family. Team comes first.” Garcia added. “Of course you have a lot of talent,  but the idea is everyone on the team contributes to the overall goal of being successful.”

Simpy Futbol FC will face some immediate challenges from what will sure to be its two local rivals. Both of the other Dallas area teams played in the MASL W postseason in 2025-26. RPFC has been in the league for both previous season, with a combined regular season mark of 18-2. They lost to the Demon Hawks 7-4 in the MASL W championship game last spring. In 2024-25, they advanced to the league's Final Four.

“Dallas is probably one of the biggest hubs in the country for players, and so having more teams here is just more a pathway for girls to play.” Garcia noted.

“They have already proven what their commitment to the sport is, and so that make it a very exciting addition to our third season of play,” MASL W Commissioner Chris Economides noted. “Everyone in the league knows how good the Demon Hawks are, and to take them to the wire in such an incredible pressure-filled environment like the TST finals was a tremendous accomplishment. Mo and his staff are dedicated to the product and the players on and off the field. They are exactly the type of quality organization that we are looking to move forward with this year and beyond, raising the level of the sport at every turn.”

Simply Futbol will play their home games at TOCA Carrollton. Each MASL W team plays a 10-game regular season schedule from November to March, with a national playoffs wrapping up the 2026-27 campaign.

The club is planning open tryouts for area players in the coming weeks, with details of that available on the team's website at www.simplyfutbolfc.com and the team's social media pages. More information on MASL W is available at www.malsw.com.
